We are delighted to share that the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Florida has appointed our own Deacon Lawanda Williams as the new Interim Regional Archdeacon for the First Coast East and West regions. You can read the email here
This appointment is effective immediately. Deacon Lawanda will serve in this diocesan role until the consecration of a new Bishop Diocesan, with any future appointments to be made by the Bishop. We also want to be clear that this new appointment does not mean Deacon Lawanda is leaving St. Paul’s by the Sea. She will continue to serve among us as our beloved deacon, even as she takes on this additional ministry in the wider diocese.
This is a wonderful recognition of Deacon Lawanda’s faithful leadership, pastoral presence, and deep commitment to the ministry of deacons. At St. Paul’s by the Sea, we already know what a gift she is to the Church, and we give thanks that others will now benefit from her wisdom and leadership in this important season of transition.
