Youth (SPY)

Anne Wiggins, Youth Director

Journey 2 Adulthood is a complete youth ministry program of spiritual formation for 6th or 7th - 12th grades. It uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries and both serious and playful activities to underscore its core messages: The grades in each part of the program vary from year to year.
Rite 13 - The focus of Rite 13 is celebrating the individuality of each young person and their creative potential. The Rite 13 liturgy (A celebration of Manhood and Womanhood) is the community expression of this.
Journey 2 Adulthood - This portion of the program engages youth with the skills and critical thinking involved in adulthood. The youth plan and embark on a pilgrimage together at the end of this segment.
The Rite 13 and J2A classes start on a two-year rotation. Confirmation classes are part of the Rite 13 curriculum and Confirmation takes place towards the end of the second year.

Mission Trips
The members of St. Paul's by-the-Sea Youth (SPY) have embarked on mission trips to various locations including Mississippi to help with the Katrina relief effort, the Bahamas to assist a church also damaged by hurricanes, and Cuba for fellowship with our sister church. Our trips are designed to demonstrate to our youth the importance of helping those in need, learn new skills that will help them later in life, and provide an experience they will always remember.

- June, 2008 - Mission on the Bay, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi
- November, 2007 - St. Paul's Parish, Cienfuegos, Cuba
